Navigation Paths
A navigation path is a logical grouping of relational dimensional objects into a hierarchy. In the former Universe Design Tool, these were referred to as hierarchies. The navigation path defines the drill path available to users in Web Intelligence (refer to Chapter 18).
Default Navigation
By default, the drill or navigation path is according to the order of the dimension objects within a folder. Only dimensions (not attributes) are available for drilling. If you have ordered your objects from largest to smallest increments, as discussed in Chapter 7, you have provided users with a reasonable drill path.
Custom Navigation
The benefit of custom navigation is that you explicitly control the drill path.
