Planning for Authorization
Defining users and groups is the easy part of security. Controlling access to the BI content is more complex and demands careful planning. Before you begin the task of defining users, folders, and groups, first consider the following:
• How the company is organized; if you are using external authentication, you may be able to leverage groups defined in an external authentication system
• How you want to organize reports in a way that facilitates decision-making and minimizes duplicate analyses and report creation
• How tightly you want to control access to dashboards and reports
