It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Total Cost of Ownership
Up to now, this chapter has focused on the types of servers, OS, and DB platforms supported with SAP software, including some details about server technologies. The subject of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of these server platforms remains. A detailed cost analysis of each server and OS platform is clearly beyond the scope of this book, primarily because it is difficult to collect accurate and reliable data in a rapidly changing marketplace. However, the costs of the server, OS, and DB platforms in relation to the overall project costs are presented in this section, based on studies of ERP/SAP projects. Important factors that make up the TCO of the infrastructure requirements are also presented.
