The symbols have been chosen as carefully as possible to prevent confusion. In a few instances, the same symbol was used. When this occurs, a clear distinction is made in the meaning of each, and where it is used in the text is indicated.

Aa	Solar array area required for the cells
Ac	Area covered by each radio cell
Ae	Effective aperture area
Aeq	Equivalent surface area of the satellite that is perpendicular to the orbit velocity
Ag	Cellular radio coverage area for circular cells
Ap	Cellular radio coverage area for polygonal cells
B	Aperture length in E-plane of a pyramidal horn (in Chapter 2) or channel
