Frequency bands of operation
C-band | 3–7 GHz |
Ku-band | 10–18 GHz |
Ka-band | 18–40 GHz |
L-band | 1.0–2.0 GHz |
(X-band | 7–9 GHz, for interest only, mostly used for military operation) |
There are a number of different definitions for frequency bands, depending on whether for commercial, military or space use – the above are those broadly accepted for commercial satellite usage. C-band is divided into a number of sub-bands (with ranges in GHz), as follows:
Standard C-band
Uplink frequency | 5.925–6.425 |
Downlink frequency | 3.7–4.2 |
Extended C-band
Uplink frequency | 5.85–6.425 |
Downlink frequency | 3.625–4.2 |
Super-extended C-band ...
