High-magnification image of a feather showing repetition of structures, acquired on a Zeiss Axioplan 2 microscope using a 10x lens (N.A. 0.3) X 2 Zoom. A Spot 1 camera and SPOT Advanced, version 4.1 software (Diagnostic Instruments, Sterling Heights, MI) were used for acquisition. Image was color toned, rescaled, resampled, and conformed to printing press, reproducible colors in Photo shop CS3 Extended (Adobe Systems Incorporated, San Jose, CA). Scale bar = 110 microns.
