Measuring Images

Image of 6-year-old child watching TV from a 12-minute series of images, taken on black and white film (Kodak Tri-X 400) and then digitized (Nikon Coolscan LS-2000). Image was modified in Photoshop 7.0 (Adobe Systems Incorporated, San Jose, CA) by darkening edges of the photo, blurring the background, and optimizing the brightness and contrast for publication.

AFTER IMAGES ARE SEGMENTED, measurement is fairly straightforward, and it occurs via three modalities:

  • By selecting relevant features so that each measured feature is surrounded by an animated selection
