24 Photographic visualization

24.1 Introduction

A number of imaging procedures involving techniques of photography, cine and video are used to make visible for analysis many processes that are not immediately perceived. These include events that occur over a long period of time requiring time lapse recording and the flow of a medium around obstacles requiring techniques of flow visualization. The visualization of events occurring in a very short time period are dealt with separately in Chapter 25.
