Action adventure and science fiction have always been popular sources for movies since the days of Ben Hur in the 1920s. In recent years, we have seen many popular adaptations along these lines—The Silence of the Lambs, The Firm, and Hunt for Red October.
One of the most popular and successful action adventure movies in recent years is Michael Crichton’s Jurassic Park (1990). Like other adaptations, Crichton’s adaptation of his own work follows many of the same patterns we have seen for other novels.
