As screenwriters move from basic into more intermediate practices, they tend to develop new and different ways to discuss (and consider) their creative process. When adapting work as a team of writer(s) and producer(s), a common high-level vocabulary is often needed to discuss creative choices quickly and efficiently. This section of the book will introduce some of the intermediate concepts that I use when discussing adaptations with clients, employers, and with myself—often the most difficult conversation of all.
