Most writers are not only creative, but also are movie lovers, film buffs, or fans of a particular genre. Producers most often are businessmen, whose skill sets focus on recognizing material that there is a market for and putting the pieces together to get a film made. Producers can also be film buffs and fans, but business acumen and expertise is more essential for getting a movie made. I receive screenplay submissions almost daily, now via email (as opposed to snail mail in years past). These submissions are in the form of what is known as a query letter.
