The advent of software-defined networking (SDN) has created a shift in the networking landscape, and as a result there are two main fights going on for control of the network. The first is the external “fight” in the marketplace—which company or companies will become the dominant player in the multi-billion-dollar market for networking? Will it be a traditional network player such as Cisco, a company from the server virtualization world such as VMware, or will some new company come along and become the next big thing?
