In Book VI, Chapter 1, we talk a little bit about getting people to link to you and how it affects your overall ranking within the search engines. Having links from good reputable web sites lends to your site’s overall credibility and is used in the search engine’s algorithm (formula that measures a web page’s overall relevancy to the search query) to determine whether you can be considered an “expert” in your field. Remember, the search engines want to give their users the best results possible, because if they give the user what they want, users come back and continue to use the search engine.
