Stage 9 Leveraging Curmudgeons
Every organization has at least one curmudgeon; most have a few. I have a theory that every organization must have more than one because it seems more than a coincidence that multiple curmudgeons—across multiple organizations—work together through a sophisticated network to wreak havoc on productive people from time to time. How else do we explain the coincidence that overachievers at multiple organizations experience chaos orchestrated by curmudgeons in the same week? A colleague (Simmie A. Raiford) and I noticed this phenomenon a few decades ago as we would call each other for support and venting. We began to notice that these events took place on Wednesdays.
