9. Cache Management

The real power behind the previews in the Bridge is the Cache. The Bridge builds cache files each time you navigate to a folder of files from which the Bridge can build thumbnails. This means that the next time you access that folder the thumbnails and metadata will appear much faster. By default, the Bridge builds one large centralized cache file on your hard drive. There is an option in the Bridge preferences to change this setting to “Use Distributed Cache Files When Possible.” The graphics experts are on both sides of the fence on this topic.
