Combining the Five Ps with the Secure Software Systems Life Cycle

At this point, we can start to put together the five Ps with the software system life cycle. As we can guess, it isn’t going to be straight forward and neat, but we will see patterns emerge. The first pattern we can look at is the role of product and portfolio management in the inception phase of the life cycle. The product and portfolio gaps and deficiencies in an organization are very much going to determine whether a new system is needed (second as a driver only to awed executives who just attended a tradeshow and saw a system “we just need to have”) or if an existing system needs revision.
