Retirement

Eventually, an organization is going to come to a point where it determines that a system is no longer needed or viable or is going to be replace be a new system. Now comes the point to retire the system. Retirement is the process of taking a system permanently out of service. The retirement process is not as simple as turning off the switch and shutting down the system. (See Figure 18.3.)
