Abstract

This chapter presents an overview of radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology and its relationship to security and privacy protection in the Internet of Things (IoT). Security features of RFID, including the tags/readers collision problem, data confidentiality, tag-to-reader authentication, and high-assurance readers are discussed, as well as issues regarding the integration of RFID and wireless sensor networks, including privacy, identification and authentication, communication security, and trust and ownership.
