5 PROTECTING DATA
Data is the lifeblood of the modern enterprise. The creation, exchange, analysis and storage of data are key components in countless business processes, so it’s no surprise that there are plenty of opportunities for all of that data to slip into the wrong hands, become inaccurate, or perhaps become completely unusable. In security operations, and especially as part of the blue team, our job is to work to prevent data from meeting any of the fates listed above. When we do this, we’re protecting data, but we’re also protecting the enterprise and, most importantly, the lives and livelihoods of the people the data represents.
