Abstract:
This chapter is concerned with acceptable use policies (AUPs). A public service department’s AUP describes what constitutes acceptable use. Only the parts of these policies that are directly relevant to social media usage are described. To begin with, an employee may have to follow an official process before being allowed access to social media. Many policies exist and extracts are given to show examples of how points are worded. General advice on selecting a social media site and using it is given. For example, users should set sensible account settings.
