Choosing a Boot Loader

After you have selected and installed your Linux distribution, wherever you have chosen to install it, the next step is to think about the boot loader and how you may best secure it. If Linux is your primary operating system, two primary boot loaders typically come with a Linux distribution. (Of course, you can use other boot loaders to boot to a Linux system.) The two are as follows:

  • Linux Loader (LILO)

  • Grand Unified Bootloader (GRUB)
