LEFT/RIGHT
The next set of figures really represents a subset of ambiguous figures. These differ only to the extent that seeing the two different images in each is largely a matter of focusing on the left or right side of the image, rather than focusing on either side of a shared contour. Most of these figures are quite simple.
The oldest in the set presented here was drawn by an American psychologist, Joseph Jastrow, in 1888. Focusing on the left, you see a duck, but focusing on the right, you see a rabbit.
