Muting relays
What could be simpler than switching a relay on and off? This depends on how closely you want to control it. Any design problem, when looked at the right way, can be made more challenging. It is usually possible to identify a parameter that can be focused on and made the subject of some creative improvement. So it is here, where the speed of relay switch-off, and hence its ability to mute turn-off transients, is examined into in depth.
