Simple model of maintenance

Abstract

Preventive maintenance is conducted to keep a device working and extend its life. In this chapter we present a simple semi-Markov model of preventive maintenance. The constructed model allows us to formulate a problem of optimizing the time to preventive maintenance. The theorem formulates and proves a sufficient condition that an optimal time exists for preventive service.
