3Technical SEO: from HTML Tags to URL
The technical aspect of SEO takes place in several steps and consists of checking the following points:
- – the crawl of the site;
- – indexing of web pages;
- – the loading time of the pages;
- – the internal linking;
- – the structure of the site (not too deep).
Here, we provide explanation of these different elements as follows:
- – crawl: when arriving on a website, search engines look first at the robots.txt to see if they can visit (or crawl) everything on a site. If there are any restrictions, the engines skip the restricted folders and go directly to the authorized folders;
- – indexing: after entering the various authorized folders, search engines will search for the pages to visit, and then save (index) them in their databases. The sitemap.xml helps to index a site faster;
- – loading time: the longer it takes for a page to load, the harder it will be to get it out in the search results of the engines. We must be careful at this point, because with the arrival of the new Google and Baidu projects, namely Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) and Mobile Instant Pages (MIP), the mobile versions of the sites will be more important than the traditional versions on computer;
- – internal linking: a web page can be indexed more quickly if it is easily found in the site structure. The internal linking has a significant impact on the ranking of pages in search engines.
