Coaching (Not Managing) Your Team

How many of you wished your employees cared about the business and its success as much as you do?

In my workshops, I often ask leaders this question, and inevitably, every leader smiles and all hands go up.

Okay, that would be a miracle, and this isn't a fairy tale. But everyone with your hands up, what are you doing to try and make that happen?

Silence.

How many of you spend at least one hour a week developing your employees—not telling them what to do but coaching them to help them do it better? Getting together in groups and practicing or scrimmaging and role playing? If you do any or all of these things keep your hands up.
