6.23. POLICY PROVISIONING MODEL (AND PROCESS)
As the industry matures the concepts, approaches and tools for enterprise, IT and SOA governance, we anticipate the development of tools that can automate the development, enforcement and provisioning of enterprise policies according to the policy framework we have mapped out thus far. Three potential solutions work in lockstep to potentially facilitate automation of policy model development, policy enforcement models, and policy provisioning.
Exhibit 6.12 depicts this policy provisioning model concept.
The policy provisioning approach illustrated depends on three technology solutions: (1) a policy modeling solution, (2) a policy enforcement modeling solution, and (3) a policy provisioning solution.
6.23.1. Policy Modeling Solution Gap
A governance policy modeling tool that can facilitate definition, management and version control for all enterprise policies developed according to the concepts of a unified policy model and an integrated policy enforcement model is necessary. Key requirements of such a policy modeling solutions would be as follows:
