The most visible part of the overall satellite signal reception package is the dish and its associated mounting, which are also the least technical. There are, however, some less than obvious problems that can occur and we shall see this after dealing with the basics.
The dish reflector
The parabolic shape of the dish antenna is the heart of its operation. The simple equation is that the more accurate and undistorted the parabola, the more efficient the dish. In practical terms, the most likely time to encounter a distorted dish is upon installation – twists or dents caused by the transportation process.
