SYSTEM CONTROL CIRCUITS
The system control circuit is at the heart of any satellite receiver’s operation. Its degrees of complexity and integration will depend on the age, manufacturer and features of the receiver. It will almost certainly be based around at least one microprocessor. One will encounter, in satellite receivers particularly, the inclusion of an emulation PCB containing various ICs in place of a single microprocessor that may be expected. See Fig. 11.1 – do not be misled by appearances. The role of system control is of co-ordination, control, synchronisation, monitoring, interfacing and protecting.
