TO MAKE A SIGNIFICANT change in something as important as an organization’s performance review system, you first have to focus on the culture. Culture refers to the assumptions, beliefs, values, customs, and behaviors of the organization’s employees, supervisors, and leaders. In other words, culture is “the way we do things around here.”1 Impacting the WD-40 Company culture I inherited was not a quick fix.
