Setting Performance Targets

Introduction

When an archer aims at the bull’s-eye, the target, the focus is on getting the arrow from the bow to the red circle in the center of target. This focus requires strength in pulling back the bow string, coordination between the dominant eye and arm with a judgment call as to the wind direction, and angle of the release. We can use the science of physics—the tensile strength of the bow, the aerodynamics of the arrow, and compensation for wind and gravity. Robin Hood knew little of this science but relied on the art and judgment of his craft.
