PLEATS
There are many different styles of pleats. Pleats are a formed when fabric is folded on itself and secured in place.
Making pleats utilizes tailor’s chalk or a washable fabric pen to mark your pattern instructions on your fabric. If you’re following a pattern, the pleats will be marked on your pattern pieces, usually two lines at a 90-degree angle from the pattern cut edge, with an arrow between them indicating the direction of the fold. Carefully mark the placement of the lines on your fabric. These lines will show you where to fold your fabric to create the pleats.
Note: If your pleats will extend the entire length of the garment, it is advisable to hem your item first!
