5.3. Nonkinetic Models
In this section, we will first describe the implementation of the model developed by Liang and Rogers7 that accounts for the formation of a single variant of martensite, the detwinned martensite. Subsequently, we describe the extension to this model introduced by Brinson9 and Brinson and Lammering63 that accounts for the formation of both variants of martensite and the transformation of the twinned martensite into detwinned martensite, which can only occur at the expense of some mechanical work applied to the alloy. Finally, numerical test cases are presented that implement the multiple martensite variant models.
