A. Preparing for SharePoint Development
The first challenge you will face when starting to develop solutions for SharePoint is preparing your development machine. In order to use Visual Studio and SharePoint on your development machine you will need to install a 64-bit operating system, which is supported by SharePoint 2010. Once you’ve installed a 64-bit operating system, you can then install Visual Studio 2010 Professional (or higher) and SharePoint 2010.
In this chapter we will describe how to install and configure the required software components in order to successfully develop SharePoint solutions with Visual Studio 2010.
