DISCIPLINE 1: FACILITATION

“Discipline 1: Facilitation” explains how facilitators bring intention, tone, and a value-orientation to the Knowledge Jam. They play the roles of process consultant, project manager, change agent, cheerleader, and networker. Their responsibilities range from strategizing a high-value Jam “portfolio” to adjusting the subtle chemistry of each conversation. In this chapter we also discuss some of the finer techniques of facilitation that come in handy during the Jam cycle, such as maintaining energy or diffusing dysfunction.
