The Franken-org
WAYS TO INCREASE THE FUNCTIONALITY OF AN ORGANIZATION AND ITS STAFF (TO DRIVE THE MISSION)

Principles
1. A Franken-org assembles the choicest elements—the highest-performing individuals and teams, the most impressive capabilities, and most compelling and influential partners—to form a freakishly amazing operation.
2. We must force ourselves to change, innovate, and experiment with different ways of addressing serious issues, or we won’t find the solutions that are needed.
3. People power change; your team creates the possibilities that something different will happen in the world. Organizations must determine the best approach for serving their mission, and what expertise they need to help pursue those options.
Everybody loves to hate Walmart. Fair or not, the company is a lightning rod for criticism. As the world’s largest and most powerful retailer, Walmart has been accused of everything from predatory pricing to labor issues to workplace discrimination and bias. Economists (not to mention competitors) continually question whether the size and influence that Walmart enjoys—and the influence, in turn, it can exert on suppliers and partners—is a good thing.
