5 Behavioral Modeling and High‐level Simulation

The analysis of nonideal effects in Chapters 3 and 4 allows us to derive precise equivalent circuits and models for the different images M building blocks. This chapter shows how these models can be used to improve the accuracy and computational efficiency of system‐level simulations. These kinds of simulations constitute an essential tool for the systematic design of images Ms.

This chapter is organized as follows. Section 5.1 describes the systematic top‐down/bottom‐up synthesis methodology, which is commonly followed in the design of images Ms. Section 5.2 compares the different simulation approaches that can be used for the evaluation of images Ms, putting emphasis on the benefits of behavioral simulation techniques. Section 5.3 focuses on the behavioral modeling approach and Section 5.4 shows an efficient way of implementing images M block models in SIMULINK.
