15  Noise Reduction Techniques

In order to make an algorithm which can extract signal features from raw sensor data, match those features with known patterns, and then provide predictive capability of the pattern motion, we must have a solid foundation of sensor physics and electronic noise. Given this foundation, it is possible for the sensor algorithms to identify signal patterns that represent normal operation as well as patterns that indicate sensor failure. The ability to provide a signal quality, or sensor reliability, statistical metric along with the raw sensor data is extremely valuable to all subsequent information processing.
