Continuous (Active) Lowpass Filters

This chapter is devoted to simplified design with typical continuous (or active) IC filters (the Maxim MAX270/271). These ICs are chosen because they provide lowpass filtering, with a wide range of cutoff frequencies, using simple tabular design. The ICs are digitally programmable, dual 2nd-order continuous-time (active) lowpass devices. Their typical dynamic range of 60 dB surpasses most switched-capacitor filters, which require additional filtering to remove clock noise. As discussed in Chapter (1), because there is no clock, there is no clock noise in continuous filters. Also, because continuous filters are not switched, there is no aliasing problem.
