Introduction

The chapter is based on our team’s experience as active participants in a variety of wargames in player roles as well as from extensive support of wargaming environments with special simulation and artificial intelligence tools.

  • better evaluation of possible moves during the game (course of action); or
  • better and comprehensive planning probable network of events in phase of preparation the scenarios; or
  • better analysis of whole process in phase “after action review” of the game.

We intend to describe simulation and analytical support of wargaming.

Authors of the study ‐ the representatives of the Research Team for Modeling, Simulation and IT Decision Support in Conflict and Crisis Situations from the Military University of Technology (MUT) and the main operational expert gen. S. Wojciechowski ‐ took part in a few war games so‐called “Defending European Frontline.” The games were successively organized in MUT, Polish MOD, Washington (the office of the American “think tank” Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments CSBA), and EU NATO Command (organized by RAND Corporation).
