Abstract:
This chapter presents the basic methods for the modelling and simulation of woven, braided and knitted fabrics and wound packages. All these structures are built by yarns and thus there are several common aspects during their modelling. emphasis is given to the geometrical methods for the calculation of the yarn paths of these structures. some possible extensions of the models for consideration of the mechanical interactions between the yarns are discussed and examples of the capabilities of some commercially available CAD systems for design and simulation of textile structures are ...
