MOST PHOTOGS THRIVE ON DIFFERENCE. I count myself among them. I get charged up by visiting a new country, seeing stuff I’ve never seen, and gaining access to things and places that are denied to the general public. Lots of folks like sameness, truth be told. Home. Going to the office. Working with the same people. Familiarity equals comfort, and I can understand that. But photogs yearn for the shock to the system, the town that ain’t on the interstate, the revelation of encountering somebody, something, that embodies difference.
