A Quick Tour of Self-Assignments That Come to Me in My Sleep

I’ll be straight up. Nobody’s going to pay me to do pictures like these. It would have to be one strange magazine, for sure. Even the gang in my studio—who long ago learned to have patience while I offered overheated descriptions of pictures to be had if we could only get an elephant and a crane out to a dry lake bed—have done head tilts at some of these.

But, I find I have to do these kinds of self-assignments, if only to clean out some of the debris in my head and see what actually might work as a picture.
