2.3 Collecting Images & Clippings

Images now abound – in magazines, in books, in posters, on the web and as part of software. Collecting images and clippings is another way in which you can use the richness of the world around you to fuel your ideation and design processes.
There is almost always a method by which you can save a copy of what you find. You can use scissors to cut out that image in the magazine you just bought. If you can’t cut things out, you may use your scanner or camera to capture items in books or posters (see Chapter 2.2). Or you may use image clipping software (also known as screen-grabbing) to capture that interesting interface visual or web image while on a computer.
