Policy Approach for Skill Development and Vocational Education and Training
Although vocational education was recognized as an important ingredient for economic and social advancement, there had been no clear articulation of an exclusive policy on vocational education. However, this lacuna was addressed by the 12th Five Year Plan document (Government of India, Planning Commission 2013) that clearly states that there is an urgent need to mainstream skill formation in the formal education system.
