Give and Receive Feedback
Your ability to give and receive feedback is both a responsibility and a privilege. When you receive feedback, be appreciative that the individual had the courage to share perceptions with you. Even if you believe the feedback to be misguided or wrong, it’s important to show appreciation. You don’t have to agree with all the feedback, but listen carefully because the individual’s perception is there for a reason. When you give feedback, ensure it is authentic, specific, candid, and judgment-free. Be empathetic and compassionate. A good guideline is to ask if you can give feedback first.
