SMTP AUTH and STARTTLS

Domino has excellent support for SMTP AUTH and STARTTLS. The Domino configuration screens that control SMTP AUTH are on the same screens that control STARTTLS. The Lotus Domino server supports only the LOGIN SMTP AUTH protocol.

Because SMTP AUTH is simpler to set up, we’ll start by covering SMTP AUTH, and then we’ll move to STARTTLS. Our example for STARTTLS uses a self-signed certificate, which may be acceptable for certain applications. However, a “real” certificate can easily be configured for use with Domino.
