SWOT—Strengths, Weaknesses,Opportunities, Threats

Name and Description

SWOT was developed at Stanford Research Institute in the 1960s in research funded by Fortune 500 companies that were interested in exploring ways in which the corporate planning process could be improved. The SWOT technique that emerged from this research assesses strengths and weaknesses originating in the internal environment and identifies opportunities and threats from the external environment.
