Summary

In this chapter, I discussed open systems theory as it applies to groups, components of group inputs and outputs, the nature of collaboration and barriers to that effort, and task and relationship aspects of groups. I next move specifically to facilitation and discuss a framework for facilitation that is used throughout Part Two. This framework builds upon the dual needs of task and relationship as discussed in this chapter and includes elements that are critical for the process management nature of facilitation.
