8.1   Introduction to Internet of Things (IoT)

Computing and communication have been revolutionized with the invention of Internet of Things (IoT). This term was coined by Kevin Ashton from Proctor & Gamble Consumer Company in the year 1999. Initially it was confined to manufacturing and business only, and also known as machine to machine (M2M). It uses the internet and connects with unique features through several devices. By 2025, 41.6 billion devices might get connected with IoT. These incorporated devices could be electricity meters, Bluetooth headsets, sensors, water system pumps, control circuits, etc. ...
